#FTTTP Middle School Film Festival 2016

Welcome to the Spartan Film Festival held at Mason County Central Middle School.  Students of The Story of Movies class are concluding their 15 week study of the history of film and its' impact on the culture (The Day The Earth Stood Still, To Kill a Mockingbird & Mr. Smith Goes to Washington),  film genres and viewing motion pictures through the directors lens (Storyboard, lighting, purpose, theme, cinematography & ect.).  At the conclusion of film study, student produced, directed, edited and created a quality product to share with the world that would reflect their 'voice' and 'passion'; in hopes to apply their learning.  This website is a collection of films in which students created as they were studying Silent Film, Stop Motion and Documentary Films.  Please take some time to view the films and leave some feedback on the blog below this site.  Thank you for your support of our  annual film festival!

Silent Film

The birth of film was revealed to the students not only reflecting on the elements of the Silent Film Era, but the amazing art form of film during this early stages of film. We viewed and discussed the iconic film THE GENERAL staring Muskegon, Michigan's Buster Keaton.  We concluded the mini-unit with A TRIP TO THE MOON with the father of film, George Melies.

Stop Motion

The magical world of Animation film's history and time tested efforts in creating such qualitative work was the focus of this unit of study.  Students viewed and discussed annimation feature films and short films.  Through their experience of developing a stop motion short film, students gained a greater appreciation of this genre.

Documentary

The culminating genre of study, Documentary Films, was selected in order to allow students to express their 'VOICE'.  After a brief overview of the genre in which included some of the most popular documentary films of all time; Students were responsibile to complete a documentary film on their own reflective of something passionate to them.
